Job Summary
Blue Tees Golf is seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Accounting to lead and scale our accounting function during an exciting period of growth. Reporting directly to the CFO, this leader will own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, strengthen financial controls, and build the accounting infrastructure needed to support a growing business.
This is an opportunity to build and scale an accounting function that supports a growing business. We're looking for someone who enjoys building, improving, and modernizing accounting operations—not simply maintaining them. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable solving complex technical accounting issues, leading a high-performing team, partnering with business leaders, and leveraging technology and AI to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Success in this role means creating an accounting organization that delivers timely, accurate, and reliable financial information while earning the trust of executive leadership through strong communication, sound judgment, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Own and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Drive continuous improvement toward a best-in-class five-business-day close.
- Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Validate Netsuite is producing correct outputs and reports.
- Research, document, and communicate technical accounting positions for complex or non-routine transactions.
- Translate accounting results and technical matters into clear business insights for executive leadership.
Accounting Operations, Compliance & Systems
- Build scalable accounting processes and infrastructure that support the company's continued growth.
- Improve revenue recognition practices, inventory accounting, and financial data integrity.
- Reconcile and improve reporting across multiple financial data sources to ensure accuracy and consistency arriving at a single source of truth.
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Serve as the accounting owner for NetSuite, driving system optimization, automation, and reporting improvements in partnership with the System Admin.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, HR, Sales, Product, and IT to improve financial processes and system accuracy.
Audit & Technical Accounting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
- Lead annual financial statement audits and interim audit activities.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation throughout the year.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition (including multi element arrangements) and other technical accounting matters.
- Stay current on evolving accounting standards and proactively assess their impact on the business.
Leadership & Business Partnership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
- Serve as a trusted business partner to executive leadership by providing timely financial guidance and helping solve operational challenges.
- Partner closely with the CFO on strategic initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.
Technology & AI
- Leverage AI tools to automate repetitive accounting tasks, improve efficiency, accelerate technical research, and enhance reporting quality.
- Identify and implement technology solutions that improve efficiency, reporting accuracy, and scalability while maintaining strong financial controls.
- Champion continuous improvement through thoughtful adoption of automation and emerging technologies.
Skills & Requirements

- Experience with inventory accounting, including costing, reconciliations, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Demonstrated success improving accounting processes and building scalable accounting operations.
